Gay Guy in Seminary: Day 051 (Speed Reading)

Speed reading is a skill that I need to learn, but don't have time to learn. I'm about to do some speed reading for my Lectio Devina, which is a total oxy moron if you know anything about Lectio Devina. I'd like to blog a little bit longer, but I have homework to do. Night!

  1. Speed reading does not have to be a unwieldy, specialized, skill. It is quite possible to enjoy your time speed reading something, in much the same way as you would when reading a novel. To do this all you need do is create the correct atmosphere in which to speed read. Eliminate all distraction, such as music and chat. Do a pre-read of the materials: read the index, headings and subheadings. Then speed read the text. Retain the information. Utilize that information.

  2. It takes time to build up to that, though, right? Every time I "speed read" something, I find that I just don't retain the information very well
